If you don’t have any technical skills like me, you are probably afraid of customizing Genesis framework and you have to depend heavily on pre-made child themes.
Don’t get me wrong, these child themes are great, but I am always dreaming about a day when I can have full control of my theme in a few clicks and not to be buried in heavy, ugly, dizzy codes.
Sharing the same dream with me?
Stop dreaming!
I have found a solution for both of us (you and me) when you can use powerful Genesis framework and make your own custom design easily with more than 800 options and 49 1-click home page configurations.
Here we come, Dynamik child theme for Genesis Framework.
Dynamik Child Theme – An Overview
Dynamik Child theme comes from Catalys Developers who creates the famous Catalyst framework. It aims to make every customer a theme designer. You don’t need to learn Genesis hooks or spend countless hours on CSS classroom. The user interface of this child theme is easy to browse through. The codes are solid and they are good foundation for your website. You know, there are a lot themes with great designs, but the codes are terrible making a lot of errors and flood your hosting with unnecessary works. My favorite feature of this theme is that it’s fully responsive. As a result, no matter which changes you made to this child theme, it’ll be fit correctly on every device.
What makes Dynamik theme unique?
The developers from Catalyst Framework has bring Dynamik to Genesis community, they keep the original functions and add more for only Genesis.
It allows you to change everything you want in less than 5 clicks, sometimes 1 click is enough. And no, it’s not another combination of fonts and colors like some other premium themes. You can choose your favorite fonts, colors, layouts, how large your elements are and so on. You can add custom CSS codes or hooks with some clicks, the theme will help you do the heavy works.
How to customize your theme with Dynamik Genesis
There are three main parts of this child theme: Theme Settings, Design Options and Custom Options. Despite not providing an admin demo, Dynamik Genesis shows you the screenshot from admin panel of this theme. You can look at all of the screenshots here. Let’s see how these parts can help you
Theme Settings
Genesis frameworks does have it core SEO options and settings, so the Dynamik Settings contains only a few options, but these options are nice addition for Genesis:
- Active WordPress Post Formats with one-click and choose your prefered formats.
- Gzip compression (Decrease loading time and data)
- Responsive design 1-click optimization.
- Add your own affiliate link in footer.
- Import and Export (Build your child theme and bring it everywhere)
Design Options
Design options panel includes everything you need to customize the theme from header to footer, from content to navigation. You can even control the shadows, borders, paddings… These features are well-categorized, so you’ll get used with them soon.
It also comes with 49 pre-made home page layouts and the feature to custom your home page with many features. I can’t explain everything here since it will overwhelm your head, instead you can take a look at the Design Options screenshots. The provider is nice enough to capture every aspect of admin panel and show you how it actually works.

Custom Options
As you probably know, Genesis allows people to use their “hooks” for design. For example, if you want to place a banner before comment section, you’ll use genesis_before_comments hook. But in order to use these “hooks” effectively, you should have some basic skills of writing codes plus a deep understanding in hooks and their positions.
Custom Options from Dynamik Genesis Child Theme has solved this problem by allowing you to choose where to place your additional codes, the theme will do the rest work for you including where to place, the CSS, conditions and so on.
Dynamik Genesis Child Theme – What Are Unlimited
Dynamik child theme has 800 functions and 49 home page layouts, but the it gives you the ability to change your theme and let your creativity flow into your website. These benefits are countable, so what can’t be count?
- Build unlimited websites of yours and your clients’ (this reminds me of Themeforest, where you can only buy and use their themes for ONE site only. If you want to use on more sites, you have to pay for them)
- Unlimited and life time support.
- Unlimited variations of child theme’s design. To be honest, it can be count for an exact number if you are good at math. However, I won’t bother count it since it allows you to do everything you want with your site.

I am very interested in purchasing a framework to begin my new WordPress Site development. I have read great reviews about both Catalyst with Dynamik and the Dynamik Website Builder for Genesis. My concerns are twofold. One which framework to purchase. The second is a little more involved. I have perused quite a few templates for design inspiration, however have not seen any “showcased” on the Catalyst or Genesis websites that have 1) a full screen slider for the homepage – which typically makes use of the “Supersized” plugin, 2) a vertical expanding menu that is placed in the left sidebar which typically make use of the “JQuery Accordian Menu” plugin, or 3) the “Masonry, Pinterest, or Isotope grid styled blog layout that might make use of the JQuery Masonry, Isotope or Wookmark plugins. I want to incorporate all of these into my next site. My gut tells me this it is possible on these frameworks by developing some custom page templates, custom menus saved as widgets in both of these frameworks, however I am again concerned since these features are only showcased on template sites like Woo Themes, Elegant Themes, Themezilla, Dream Themes and Themes Forest. I am certain that some designers must be using these frameworks to create these contemporary templates, however I have no proof to support. Please advise so that I can purchase a framework, a theme and start developing. Thanks in advance for your help.
Cheers,
Trey
